Scrap metal, explained simply.

What scrap metal is, what dealers do and how it finds its way back into use.

Scrap metal is metal that has reached the end of one use but may still be valuable as a material. It can come from old equipment, manufacturing offcuts or items that are no longer needed.

What does a scrap metal dealer do?

Dealers buy, sort and sell recovered metal. They connect the people who have scrap with businesses that can process it or move it further along the recycling chain. A yard is often where materials are weighed, sorted and stored before they are sold.

Why are different metals kept apart?

Different materials have different uses and trading values. Steel, aluminium and copper are not interchangeable. Keeping materials clearly identified helps a dealer record what is being bought and sold.

Where does Koche fit in?

Koche focuses on the records behind the trade. Purchases, sales, stock and expenses help tell the story of what a yard does each day. Bringing these together makes the business easier to follow.
